It is possible to make lasting peace with food and your body
We provide body-centered, trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals looking to find lasting healing from disordered eating, eating disorders and negative body image. We believe all bodies deserve respect, nourishment and compassion.
In person in Asheville, NC and Amherst, MA and virtual across North Carolina, South Carolina & Massachusetts.
If you’re here, you’re most likely a courageous, insightful and sensitive person who feels things deeply.
And you’ve been struggling for longer than you remember with:
Disordered eating including dieting, binging, restricting, purging or compulsive exercise (whether or not you have an official diagnosis)
Eating disorders (at whatever point you are in recovery)
Negative body image and self-hatred
You believe
… your body has betrayed you, your body is not a safe place and never will be.
... you are too much and not good enough at the same time, you are unloveable, you are inherently flawed
... you won’t be able to manage life without your disordered eating behaviors
You’re exhausted. Overwhelmed.
You feel hopeless that you will ever feel understood, safe and connected in relationships.
Living in your body now seems like an endless war.
It's not like you haven't tried. You want so much to let go and move on...
Perhaps you’ve tried CBT, DBT, or eating disorder treatment. Read the books. Listened to the podcasts. You’ve learned a lot. Grown a lot. Discovered a lot.
But you’re still struggling every single day.
You’re wondering: "Maybe this is it, maybe I’ve gotten as far as I can..."
But you're a truth seeker and thinker. And deep down, you know the undeniable truth.
There is more.
More healing. More wholeness. More work to do.
More of yourself to uncover. More freedom. More joy. More connection.
You know you were born with a magnificent soul that's waiting to shine forth...
And you're ready to begin the journey home.
What if your body is not the problem...but in fact, holds the very key to your healing?
What if...
you could learn to nourish your body with compassion and trust?
you had the tools to live your best life in the body you have now?
you could let go of the self-hatred and self-judgement for good?
If you're ready to dig deep, confront the real (sometimes scary) stuff, do the (incredibly rewarding) hard work, and claim your space in the world, we're honored to support you through this process.
We're passion-filled professionals who believe that:
you deserve to, and can, feel safe in your home in this world: your body.
you can develop a balanced and healthy relationship with food and your body.
your body can be your greatest resource.
We're here to walk the path with you as you embark on the the courageous, rewarding and transformative journey toward
....the wholeness you deserve
...the peace you crave
...the freedom you desire.

disordered eating and body image,
offering a safe, supportive and nurturing space where you can explore the roots of your challenges and master practical tools to use in real life.

Our therapy incorporates:
-
Body-centered (somatic) work
When we are at war with our body and ourselves, we are unable to connect to our strengths and gifts. After years of ignoring, abusing or despising your body, it's no wonder you have lost touch with your body's inner wisdom.
For true recovery to take place, it's crucial to reconnect with your body. You'll learn to safely listen to your body's messages and reconnect with them. You'll also gain a host of practical tools to use to increase your tolerance of difficult situations, embrace your feelings and eventually relate with your body as your greatest resource. We use a variety of tools as a part of the process, including embodiment coaching, yoga, mindfulness, movement and sensory work.
-
Health at Every Size® alignment and a weight-inclusive approach
We incorporate the principles of Health at Every Size® (HAES) into the individual therapeutic work.
Understanding cultural influences of eating and body issues is a central part of process, and we aim to bring awareness of the societal oppressions that contribute to eating and body image challenges. Our clients find that challenging the systems of oppression that make people vulnerable, including diet culture, fatphobia, sexism and patriarchy, is an essential and empowering layer of the healing process.
-
Healing from the inside out
Eating disorders and disordered eating are signals of emotional challenges that need to be addressed.
Our relationship with food contains patterns for how we engage with our life.
Eating disorders may arise as an attempt to protect us from uncomfortable feelings and emotions related to trauma and attachment wounding.
For behaviors to change, we need to explore the roots of these behaviors, which may include attachment wounds and unresolved trauma. This differs from a more cognitive oriented, “top down” approach as we don't actively try to change thoughts. Instead, by acknowledging and shifting the roots in a safe and non-judgmental way, a gentle, profound and long-lasting transformation takes place from the “bottom up.”
-
Unconditional compassion and respect
We're here to respect you, hold space for you and guide you, at a pace that makes sense for you. Your autonomy at every stage of the process is our priority. We see our work together as sacred, and journeying alongside you is a deep honor.
