You Gotta Move

My blues harmonica playing Daddy-O has a favorite tune he loves to wail on his harp called “You Gotta Move.”

You gotta move. You gotta move. You gotta move, child. You gotta move. Oh when the Lord gets ready you gotta move.

For me, the lyrics to this song, sung in the style of the blues, are right on. To connect to and embody your beauty, you gotta move! There is absolutely nothing like movement to get out of your head, into your body and into the present moment. It is an essential Reclaiming Beauty skill to find some movement your body loves and do it consistently – make it a practice. Shift the focus on calories burned and body part sculpted and choose a movement practice that feels good in your body.

Whatever it is: yoga, NIA, zumba, belly dance, contra dance, square dance, salsa, hula hooping, hiking, running, biking,  swimming, weight lifting, tai chi, spinning, fire dancing… to reclaim your beauty, you gotta move, consistently, for the love and joy of moving.

If you don’t, you’ll be singing the blues!

What is your experience with using movement as a Reclaiming Beauty practice?
