Defining Beauty
The Navajo Indian have a ceremony called the Beautyway in which they participate to regain a sense of Beauty, Balance and Harmony in their lives. Reflect on this traditional Navajo prayer from the Beautyway:
In beauty may I walk
All day long may I walk
With beauty before me may I walk
With beauty behind me may I walk
With beauty above me may I walk
With beauty all around me may I walk
Walk in beauty
Walk in beauty
The concept ‘to walk in beauty’ has been described as the process of being connected to one’s true Self – the Soul self. Tools of Self-Knowledge can assist a person to connect to their Soul self and therefore embody their beauty.
What is your definition of beauty? Is it wide enough to include your Self? In what ways do you explore your Self-knowledge and how does this process help you embody your beauty?
